Safe from Harm

Although we are happy for you to stay with your child, we cannot allow you to help in the Holiday Club without signing a confidential declaration.

The government has published a code of practice for groups working with children. It is called Safe from Harm, and it contains a number of guidelines for good practice. Safe from Harm contains guidelines rather than law but we are keen to adopt these guidelines to ensure that, while in our care, your children are in a safe environment. One important part is to ensure that all those with access to children under 18 (volunteers or in paid employment) make a signed declaration of any criminal conviction, including those ‘spent’ under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, along with details of cautions, reprimands or warnings.

All official helpers over the age of 18 will have signed the Confidential Declaration beforehand. Helpers under the age of 18 will not have unsupervised access to the children.

We hope that you will respect the position that we have taken.
