The Ladies' Fellowship
The ladies Fellowship, up to the beginning of December, continued to enjoy having visiting speakers, who shared their experiences of God with us. Then like so many others, we began our special Christmas activities.
On the 9th December we had a very pleasant time together when we met for our Christmas dinner. We were pleased that other “older” members of the church were able to be with us on this occasion.
Once again we celebrated Christ’s coming at our Carol service, which we held on 16th December. It was encouraging to have a number of folk joining us who do not do so on a Sunday. A total of around fifty people had gathered together for this and most of them stayed for coffee and mince pies afterwards. Colin White reminded us of the fact that we sometimes receive exciting looking presents that, when opened, disappoint us. He recommended the best present of all - The Lord Jesus Himself.
After a short break we have now begun our 2004 programme. The Ladies’ Fellowship regularly support the work of the Gideons so it was good that David and Elizabeth Taylor were able to come and give us an update on recent Gideons’ activities.
On Howard’s firts visit to us he encouraged us with a practical demonstration to consider how we are made and the “recipe for life” that God has given to us. This included our being given the fruit of the Spirit and gifts from God to aid us day by day. We certainly appreciated his “efforts” when we had our usual cup of tea at the end of the meeting. Do you have any more recipes to share Howard?
