Ladies' Day
Saturday March 6th saw the hosting of the 4th ladies’ day with guest speaker Jenny Davey from Grimsby. Having overcome a brain tumour 3 years ago, Jenny inspired and entertained us with her zest for life and musical talent.
The theme for the day was “Walking with God”. We learnt about well known women in the bible, the roles they played and how similar our own characters might be to theirs. We reflected on our own journeys in life, how they may affect what we do today and how we treat and judge others. An abundance of artistic talent was revealed in “cutting and sticking” and just to build up an appetite, there was fun exercising to hymns!
Howard and his trusty team once again did us proud serving up a delicious lunch of Chicken Chasseur and Vegetable Pasta Bake. Just in case we had any room left, a selection of scrumptious desserts was on offer.
During the afternoon, Jenny inspired us to reralize that we can pray and praise our Lord in many different ways. That by recognizing and loving our own uniqueness, as God does, we can truly give more of ourselves. Our “Walk with God” is not one we take alone, and all of us, no matter where we are on that journey are relevant.
For me, the most enjoyable aspect of the day (apart from Howard in his apron!) is the coming together of women - all shapes and sizes, all ages and backgrounds, to celebrate our Lord in a spirit of love and fellowship.
