FIEC Conference 2003
A Personal Perspective
FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches).

Like Spring Harvest there are Bible Readings, Main Ministry, bookstalls and so on to choose from. We love North Wales and after enjoying last year’s event we decided to book again (along with Howard and Hilary).

On the morning of the first day I read a quote in my Bible notes, “If God wants to speak to you today, don’t be stubborn.” Already God had my attention!

We often sing that chorus at QBC, “I want to see Jesus lifted high”, during those four days of Bible Ministry that is exactly what we saw and heard.

I was particularly encouraged as we thought again about the Risen Christ, the evidence for the resurrection, and God’s power to transform lives.

Some of the many challenges for me were when I considered God’s holiness and my own life - they were at opposite ends, and without His grace I am helpless and hopeless. Also I acknowledged that because Jesus Himself is utterly committed to the local church so I should be faithful and committed.

As the days went on and Jesus was exalted in the preaching and teaching I was overwhelmed by an increasing appetite to know Him more. God showed me my unworthiness in the light of who He is and His purpose for my life. I was always pleased with the sense of awe and quietness after the meetings, just time to ponder on God’s loveliness and allowing His word to soak in.

Despite not expecting much for myself from this time, I am blessed when I think that out of God’s goodness I experienced more than I ever could have imagined. And if I was to put it in one sentence it would be that Jesus had restored to me the joy of my salvation (Psalm 19:7-14).

As a result of all this and much more I want to allow God to make a difference in my life and the life of Quorn Baptist Church.
