A Personal Review of Spring Harvest QBC at SH

As usual, there was a lot to occupy people profitably every day. The chalets were comfortable, and there was no reason to be bored. There was a wide selection of books,Cds, videos, T-shirts to buy.

Chris and I attended a series of seminars on helping the bereaved. The speaker was a Spanish psychologist, Pablo Martinez. A very gentle man. His talks were very practical and most appreciated.

This year I found the majority of the speakers to be disappointing. A number of them were obviously worn out and lacked real fire. Some seemed to be just going through the motions. This could well have been due to illness which was rife among the team. As I write this I am full of cold and so I can appreciate how debilitating it must have been for them. Terry Virgo on the other hand was excellent.

Our main speaker was a highly competent “mountain climber”, taking us up the “peaks” of Ephesians at breakneck speed. He saved his best sermon till last. But by then some had chosen not to climb with him, and instead went where there was more pasture - another advantage of having a variety of meetings running simultaneously.

I enjoyed the time, but it wasn’t a spiritual high for me.
