Dear Friends

We have just celebrated Pentecost and while the world has converted this Christian celebration into a normal holiday. We rejoice that we can remember this was the gift of God the Holy Spirit to us so that He might dwell within each of our hearts.

When we really think about that then the word ‘awesome’ comes to my mind. This is a very popular word today amongst those younger than me, but they normally mean that something is really rather good. My dictionary described awesome as causing awe, which was not that helpful so then I looked up awe and the definition is respect combined with fear and wonder. To me that means, respect, honour and love for our great God who created the heavens and the earth. He also created me and died for me, and is my personal Saviour. When we think of these things we must praise Him.

Again having the Holy Spirit in our lives is a constant source of wonder and joy, those of us in the house groups studying Philippians will have read my favourite verse 4:13 which says “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me” this is both a fantastic encouragement and a challenge at the same time.

Therefore as we think about the Holy Spirit at work within us personally and our fellowship, we give thanks for we can see His work within our fellowship. While we are still looking for a new pastor we are seeing Him at work. I pray that this will continue, let us look around and encourage each other that this is God’s fellowship and we are his people growing in faith together and looking to share our faith with those who do not know the Lord.

Deacon.
