Fellowship Groups

The fellowship groups (house groups or home groups as they have been called in the past) have been meeting in their current form for nearly a year. To use the term "current form" may be a little misleading because we have had changes in leaders/organisers and to the format, days of meeting and venues. Despite these changes the groups themselves have met with a degree of continuity over the past year. Groups have been organised - and reorganised - in such a way as to meet the needs of those attending them and the study material used in recent months has led us to cover such areas as the Gifts of the Spirit and Daniel. Most meet every week, some fortnightly, many have occasional "social" events usually involving food. Some groups move at a faster pace than others, with some having reached the end of the material on Daniel and moving on further, and others still working through that series. Most groups will meet only occasionally over the summer holiday period and the aim is that we will conclude the Daniel series before the new term begins in September.

The new study year brings with it the opportunity to make new beginnings with fellowship groups. We plan to take up the study of Romans using material written by John Stott. This has been arranged as a series of 20 studies, and we propose to take the first ten starting in September 2001. Most of the existing leaders/organisers have offered to continue to be responsible for groups from September and there will be an opportunity, during August, for everyone to sign up for the new term. You can choose to join a new group or continue with your existing group, but most of all this is the opportunity for those not currently attending a group to become part of and to experience the support that such a group can offer. Whether you are able to attend every week or only on an occasional basis, I encourage you to get involved. Please keep a look out for the signing up sheet in the vestibule during the summer break.
