Holiday in Llandudno

On Monday we travelled to Llandudno with stops for lunch and tea, arriving in time for dinner at our hotel close to the sea front. Some of us even had rooms with a view of the sea. It rained most of the time but we still enjoyed the holiday.

Tuesday began with morning devotions and then breakfast, followed by a morning in the town, lunch in town then to the minibus for a trip to Trefriew woolen mill, a working mill with a shop and a cafe, where we enjoyed afternoon tea before returning to the hotel for dinner. After dinner we went to a male voice choir concert which was very enjoyable.

Wednesday began with devotions, breakfast and a trip to Port Merrion, which was created by Clough Williams-Ellis, an architect who between 1926 and 1976 fulfilled his boyhood dream of building his own coastal village. He bought buildings as they were being demolished from all areas of Britain and erected them in woodland to show how a beautiful location could be developed without spoiling it. Once again it rained most of the day. We had lunch in one of the cafes before making our way back to the minibus for a trip to Cricceth and afternoon tea. Then back to the hotel for dinner before going out to a concert by the Llanddulas choir.

Thursday, after devotions and breakfast, we visited a second world war museum, followed by an afternoon in Llandudno. In the evening we went to another most enjoyable male voice choir concert.

Friday began as usual, followed by a tram ride to Orms Head in an open sided tram. Next we visited Bodnant gardens where Howard, Gillian and John showed just how strong they are by pushing three wheelchairs down a very steep slope then back up again. The gardens were lovely with an extensive collection of plants and trees. After dinner we had a free evening.

On Saturday we loaded up the minibus and returned home having enjoyed a tiring week.
