Where do we go from here?

It's a question often asked after some sort of tragedy has taken place, or asked sometimes in business where the latest venture has not succeeded, or by those who have failed to achieve the next stage in their education or career.

Following the events last month in America perhaps the world is asking that same question, "Where do we go from here?" There will inevitably be some who will say that world federal government is the answer, or a more "big brother" style of existence; these answers are no answers at all! The real answer lies in changed hearts - hearts of flesh not of stone (Ezekiel 36:2), hearts that are in tune with God and acting under His perfect will. No heart that is ruled by God could or would conceive of such a dastardly deed as we witnessed in America. Only hearts ruled, controlled and instructed by Satan could have done such a thing.

However, that does ask the question about our hearts - are they genuinely under God's control? Whilst we may not plan and execute such a terrible thing as we have seen, it is perfectly plausible that we might conceive ill in our hearts. Let us pray God will remove from us anything that would not see in every other human being someone that God our Father has created and with whom He longs to have an intimate relationship. And whom we should try to win for Him as we talk of Jesus our Saviour.

And of course following all these events we must ask - what about my hatred and anger? There is only one thing you can do - take it to the Father, tell Him how you feel and allow Him to quell all that is within you and make your heart over anew.

Romans 12:17-21 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (NIV)
