This will be my last QB News letter as your Pastor and so it is tinged with sadness. During the past eleven years we have travelled the road of fellowship together, trying to decipher God’s will for the church so that we might achieve glory for His name. There have been good times, and difficult times, but one thing is certain, God has remained faithful to us. His mercy has never ceased, nor has is love for us wavered. We most certainly can say “Praise God! His mercy endures forever!”

But now my friends, our eyes must be set on the future, for God still has plans for us. Firstly we are called to “40 Days of Purpose” - 40 days to set aside other activities so that we might commit to God’s word, listening to His voice, allowing the Holy Spirit to challenge us and expecting our lives to be changed. I urge you all to give of yourself to this campaign - this is God who is calling us - forget its American roots see what God is asking of us.

The second challenge for the church is the extension and alteration of our buildings. 230+ years ago, our forefathers were challenged to build what we now have, and we now have the opportunity to allow Go to work through us for the future. We can have a building that meets not only today’s requirements but tomorrow’s as well - will you respond to the challenge?

So as I take my leave of you there is much for you all to do and achieve - but God never asks more than is possible. Just as when Jesus told the apostles to preach the gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the whole world they must have drawn a sharp breath and said, “Just we few Lord?” That may well be your reaction, but now is the moment to trust God; does He not own the cattle on a thousand hills? Are not all the treasures of the Earth His?

Finally let me say that I have been privileged to be your Pastor. You have confided in me, allowed me to share in your lives and listened as I have preached God’s unfailing word. I am grateful for each of these opportunities. Thank you for your love and grace, your generosity and your care. I leave you with an overflowing, thankful heart for each and every one of you. May God richly bless you, individually and as His people here in QBC.

Your Pastor,
Howard
