Gideon Update

This last month our supporters, known as Friends, enjoyed an evening buffet and heard about some of our achievements over the last year. We also had an encouraging talk from Fiona Pawson, a Gideon from Worcester, who has been using the Gideon New Testaments to lead bible studies in her local prisons. It was wonderful to hear how God is using His Word to change the lives of some of the inmates.

Our scripture distribution to the university students this year will take place on Sunday, 10th of October, and hopefully on one other day, so please pray for that event, that we will contact more students and that many of those will find a new life in Christ.

Another item for prayer is our regular distribution to the schools. We will be making the bookings during October and we ask for you pray that we are allowed into the schools; this is not guaranteed and each year we rely on God opening the doors for us. Please also pray for the pupils who will each receive a New Testament, that God will use it in their lives and lead some of them to Himself.

We all need to be constantly reminded of what the Bible says about our life with Christ. The writer of the Acts of the Apostles commended the Bereans for searching the scriptures daily (see Acts 17) and the challenge is whether we do the same. To help new Christians we recommend a daily reading plan in our Bibles and we also give several simple prayers that can be used.

Here is a prayer from the Gideon New Testament:

Lord, help me to understand what you would say to me, as I read your book, and give me the desire to live according to your teachings. Amen
