The Ladies' Fellowship

The months of July and August saw our Ladies Meeting closed. However, not wishing to lose contact with each other we enjoyed a series of meetings of a different nature.

Thank you Jenny, Alison and Jan for giving us opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea in your garden. As it was raining on the 3rd August we ‘enjoyed’ Jan’s garden through her patio doors! To continue the theme of our English summer weather, Alison at one stage needed to do “umbrella duty” to help some of us to retreat from her summer house where we had sheltered when the rains came!

Although Joyce Clement wasn’t with us on her birthday this year, we had a belated celebration for her - in the hall as the weather was “doubtful”. The candles were blown out successfully in one go!

Whatton Gardens were enjoyed by all, whether we toured the whole estate or only visited the rose garden and the herbaceous borders. Afternoon tea in “the Otter” overlooking the river was much appreciated. The rains came as we journeyed home.

The showers that occurred as we visited Wyvale did not affect our activities there or our enjoyment of the tea and cake or scones that were available.

However, conditions were ideal when we had our cream tea at the Manse. Thank you Howard and Hilary for all the hard work entailed in providing this for us and other church members linked to the Ladies’ Fellowship. What do you know about controlling the weather that we don’t ?!

We now look forward to our new session of meetings including taking part in the Forty Days of Purpose that is being planned for six weeks from the end of September.
