Coffee Mornings

There has been an excellent response to the Coffee Mornings, which were started in the summer. They are held once a month on a Thursday in the schoolroom starting at 10.30 am. We welcome people of all ages, from Mums with their pre-school children to the elderly, men as well as ladies, church members and many for whom this is their only contact with the church. Each session includes a short 'thought for the day' type talk and, leading up to Christmas, we have also had craft and bookstalls. We make no charge for the refreshments but ask for donations to charity. For example, in October, Jane Hollingworth spoke about the work of TEAR Fund, sold TEAR craft goods and cards, and we were able to give just over £19 to the work as well. In November, Ruth Boyes spoke about her work in Bulgaria and the difference that faith makes. She too brought a craft stall and was able to sell £147 worth of goods and was given £25 in donations to help provide medical supplies for Bulgaria.

Help is always needed to make cakes, serve refreshments, wash up and just to talk to our visitors. Thank you to all those who have been involved so far. I know many church members aren't available during the day but thank you for your prayers and interest. If you are ever free when there is a Coffee Morning on, do pop down and join us. Our numbers are growing but there is always space for a few more and it is good to be able to chat to people in a friendly, informal situation. The next dates and speakers for the Coffee Mornings are

December 6th - Jill Widdowson from the Good News Centre (with bookstall)
January 17th - Barbara Stow - 'Holistic Care'
February 21st - David and Elizabeth Taylor - 'The Gideons'
March 21st - Howard Ketton - 'The Easter Message'
