Ninety Years Young

Ruby Wisehall came into the world on 28th December 1912, one of seven children. As the years went by Ruby married and had three children and early in 2002 she had the honour of becoming a great great grandmother.

Ruby has always believed in God but it was not until after her husband died that she came to know of God’s saving grace and became a Christian. Her bereavement was very sudden and Ruby was left in shock, not knowing which way to turn. Looking back she can see God’s intervention as He prompted a friend to contact her and invite her to the Salvation Army in Loughborough. After a while Ruby realised her need for salvation and went forward to the penitent form one night after an appeal had been made. Ruby became a full Salvation Army soldier wearing the uniform and visiting local pubs selling the ‘War Cry’. She was also a songster and played the tambourine and often took part in open-air services on a Sunday evening in Loughborough Market Place.

Ruby knows that her faith in God has given her great strength to carry on when times have been difficult. She regularly reads her Bible and enjoys singing hymns at home. She finds talking to God is very natural and knows that He will always listen to her.

About ten years ago Ruby was finding it difficult to get into Loughborough on a Sunday so she decided to come along to the Ladies Fellowship and then a little while later to join QBC. She says that she is still learning new things about God and finds the talks at the Ladies Fellowship very helpful. Recently she was challenged by WWJD- What Would Jesus Do?- and is constantly recalling this question as she has decisions to make and challenges others to do the same.
