I was born into a Christian family and have always gone to church, so it is hard to say when I actually became a Christian.
Up until I was 9 I went to Holywell Free Church in Loughborough. As I was of a younger age, I don’t remember it that well, but one thing I do remember is that all the people there were so friendly and helpful and taught me a lot about the bible and God’s teachings.
Since I have been coming to Quorn I have grown a lot in my faith. There have been more people a similar age to me, so I have been able to talk to them. They understand me as they are a similar position and stage in life as I am.
I asked Jesus into my life at Spring harvest 2002 when I was 11. Spring Harvest is a Christian holiday at Easter in Skegness. There were special meetings for kids of all different ages. As I was the oldest in my group I found some of the things a bit boring. But one meeting the leader said that anyone can ask God into their lives. I felt that I understood that Jesus had died for me on the cross and that he loves me. A verse that helps me remember this is John 3:16 which says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not die but have eternal life.” The leader said that we could write our names on a wall as a reminder of the decision we had made. So I did.
Since then there have been times when my faith has felt strong but also many weak times. God has been with me and helped me through all the way.
Another verse that has helped me is 1 Samuel 16 verse 7 which says “people look at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.” It has helped me not to think to much about what I look like but about what I am like in the inside.
I had been thinking about being baptised for a long time but was never quite sure. Then one Sunday earlier this year we were talking about baptism in our Sunday morning youth session. We watched the video of my sister Kat and several other people being baptised. That was when I decided I was going to get baptised.
